FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you wondering if it’s time to repair or replace your gutters? Or maybe you’re curious about the benefits of leaf guard systems? Look no further! Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about gutter installation, repair, and maintenance.
When should I inspect my gutters?
It’s important to inspect your gutters at least twice a year – once in the spring and once in the autumn. This will help you identify any potential problems before they become bigger issues.
Do I need to have gutters installed on my home?
Yes, gutters prevent the accumulation of water, ice and debris on your roof, preventing leaks, rotting and mildew. Your roof, soffit, and foundation all benefit from properly functioning gutter systems.
How much do gutter repairs cost?
While we hate saying “it depends” it does really depend on the size of the job and the materials being used. Sometimes we have to rent special equipment in order to reach dangerous or far flung areas on your home or business. Small gutter repairs could be as low as $150, while larger repairs could require us to quote the work as a project if we are replacing several sections of gutter at the same time. We will often recommend replacement of your entire gutter system if we find that there are more than 2-3 spans of gutter that need replacing.
How often do gutters need to be replaced?
Every 20 years. Gutters are an essential part of any home. They ensure water properly drains off of your roof, helping to protect the roof, siding, landscaping, and foundation from water damage. On average, gutters need to be replaced every 20 years. However, they can last longer if you care for them properly.
How often do gutters need to be cleaned?
We recommend that gutters be cleaned twice a year. Once in the early spring to make sure there is no debris clogging the system that spring showers will have problems with. We then recommend cleaning them in late fall, after the leaves all drop to the ground. You will be sure to have plenty of leaves, sticks and twigs up there!
What is the best way to clean gutters?
You’d be surprised how many homeowners attempt gutter cleaning using their bare hands, power washers, hoses, leaf blowers, sticks, or rakes. We will first assess the situation and carefully remove all detritus we find from your gutters, safely and cleanly.
What are some common problems with gutters?
Most homeowners aren’t calling us when their gutters are clogged. They usually call us in an emergency when their gutters have failed entirely and water is now rushing into their bedroom/kitchen/basement. You can prevent these things from happening by inspecting your gutters twice a year making sure they are flowing properly, not clogged up, and are not becoming unattached from the home. A gutter that is dangling precariously off of your home means the water is going somewhere, but probably NOT where you want it to go.
What should I do if I have a problem with my gutters?
That’s easy. Just call us. One of our technicans will be right out to inspect the situation and provide you with a FREE estimate. Depending on scheduling, we may even be able to affect the repair when we are out there writing up the estimate!
What are the benefits of leaf guard systems?
Leaf guard systems offer many advantages when it comes to protecting your home from water damage caused by clogged gutters. These systems can prevent leaves and other debris from entering your gutters, which helps keep them clean and functioning properly. Additionally, leaf guard systems can help reduce maintenance costs since they require less frequent cleaning than traditional gutters.
